About
St. Paul's Pre and Lower School is a coeducational, independent day school where children take part in enriching, hands-on learning experiences. In the lower school, students use an immersive science and innovation center called The Lab, which combines a 21st-century makerspace with a community garden where they care for plants and animals. Preschool classes follow child-led exploration in a positive and nurturing setting where children are encouraged to explore and adventure.
• Ages: 6 weeks–9 years old
St. Paul's Pre and Lower School is a coeducational, independent day school serving children from 6 weeks through grade 4 in two buildings on the Brooklandville campus, where expert faculty nurture children’s natural curiosity through an abundance of enriching, hands-on learning experiences, and it is believed it is never too early for girls and boys to start adventuring every day. The school is part of The St. Paul’s Schools, a family of independent schools in Baltimore County, Maryland, and students learn in a small-school environment while also having access to the resources of a larger campus. The 120-acre wooded campus serves as a classroom and living laboratory for outdoor education with hands-on learning experiences, and the lower school’s famed tradition of singing begins there and continues through the middle and upper schools. The division follows a curricular initiative focused on building executive functioning skills such as planning, time management, self-control, and sustained attention. Throughout the year, lower school students, faculty, and staff assemble non-perishable meals, snack packs, and weekend bags for children identified as food insecure, and these are donated to Baltimore Hunger Project.
