About

School Days Out Programs are offered through the YMCA and are part of a nonprofit organization that focuses on health, hope, and opportunity for children, teens, and adults. The programs take place within a larger Y setting where children and teens play and develop self-confidence while feeling accepted and supported, and where adults connect with friends, pursue interests, and learn how to live healthier.

The YMCA’s mission states that parents find a safe, nurturing environment for their children to stay active, be engaged, and learn positive values. People from all backgrounds and walks of life come together at the Y to volunteer and help strengthen their community. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization.

Families connected to School Days Out Programs have access to membership privileges at all YMCA of the Chesapeake locations, including Elkton, Chestertown, Centreville, Denton, Easton, St. Michaels, Cambridge, Salisbury, Pocomoke City, and Chincoteague Island. Y membership allows access to all Ys in the State of Maryland and participating Ys throughout the country. Membership includes over 300 free land and water group exercise classes, Stay & Play service for children six weeks to ten years old for up to two hours per day with a parent remaining on-site, and reduced rates on swim lessons, day camp, youth sports, and more. The Y turns no one away due to inability to pay and provides over $2,000,000 in financial assistance to over 20,000 participants every year.
