About
YMCA of the Chesapeake Youth Programs are part of a founding nonprofit organization that focuses on health, hope, and opportunity for children, teens, and adults. The programs are offered through the YMCA of the Chesapeake and include membership options that connect participants with multiple YMCA locations and services.
The YMCA of the Chesapeake Youth Programs are offered at a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit social services organization. Membership includes privileges at all YMCA of the Chesapeake locations, including Elkton, Chestertown, Centreville, Denton, Easton, St. Michaels, Cambridge, Salisbury, Pocomoke City, and Chincoteague Island. Y membership also allows access to all Ys in the State of Maryland and participating Ys throughout the country. Membership includes access to over 300 free land and water group exercise classes. With membership, participants receive reduced rates on swim lessons, day camp, youth sports, and additional programs. The Y offers a Stay & Play service for children six weeks to ten years old for up to two hours per day, and a parent is required to remain on-site and be able to resume responsibility for the child’s supervision. The organization states that it turns no one away due to inability to pay and provides over $2,000,000 in financial assistance to over 20,000 participants every year. The mission of the Y includes providing a safe, nurturing environment for children to stay active, be engaged, and learn positive values; offering children and teens a place to play and develop self-confidence while feeling accepted and supported; giving adults ways to connect with friends, pursue interests, and learn how to live healthier; and bringing together people from all backgrounds and walks of life to volunteer and help strengthen their community.
