About

Magic Summer Camp gives kids the chance to practice magic by learning to read minds, magically vanish objects into thin air, and cast a spell to vanish solid objects. Campers take part in guided imagination adventures, brainstorm ideas, and develop “laser eyesight” to locate hidden objects while also learning to feel invisible messages through the vibrations from a piece of paper. During the span of a single week, they rehearse and present on stage, explore a magical castle filled with unicorns and dragons, and join in magical performance and play.

• Ages: 6–12 years old
• Schedule: For ages 6 up to 12, full-day camp 8:30–4:30 or half 9:30–2:30, during the span of a single week
• Price: For ages 6 up to 12, full-day camp 8:30–4:30 is $359, or half 9:30–2:30 is $259.

Magic Summer Camp is led by Summer Camp Director Ben Corey, a global entertainer and comedy-magician who also works as an actor, dancer, and singer. Since 1997, Ben Corey has been performing in theaters and at corporate, social, and private events, and he has delivered more than 3000 shows while studying at The University of Maryland – College Park and The Studio Theater Acting Conservatory. His foundation for the kids camps comes from his studies in child development, social psychology, theater, and acting, and each piece of magic was revised to a Las Vegas standard through a decade of guidance by his late mentor Irvin Kershner, director of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.” Magic Summer Camp offers two co-ed, adventure-filled magic programs called Academy of Wizarding Arts and The Wizard's Imaginarium, and camp sessions sell out quickly with some locations already sold out or on waitlists.

The program’s stated goal is to ensure that kids build confidence and engage in self-discovery, all while having an incredible amount of fun making new friendships appear. Ben Corey’s latest TV news appearance was nominated for an Emmy, and photos and video for the camp are courtesy of Howard County Recreation and Parks. One parent, Jennifer Schroeder, shared that in the past her daughter was apprehensive about presenting in a group setting, but after camp her daughter recently had a class presentation, did very well, and was very proud of herself.
