It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, Inc. offers an after school program that includes academic support such as homework help, tutoring, and academic enrichment. The program also includes college and career prep, touring colleges, character development, meals, recreational activities, and field trips.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm
It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, Inc. operates as a 21st Century Community Learning Center and provides afterschool, summer, and college and career access programs to more than 200 at-risk youth each year. In 2009, It Takes A Village Organization, Inc. and Help Our Children Foundation, Inc. merged to form It Takes A Village To Help Our Children, Inc. The organization is a 501(c)3 non-profit. Its mission is to engage the “village” to provide activities that promote children’s spiritual, social, and educational well-being so they can reach their fullest potential. The combined organization serves more than 200 youth ages 5 to 17 and is the only afterschool program operating Monday–Friday in its community. It has been featured on the Governor’s Office for Crime Control and Prevention website under Promising Practices, and funding for this year’s after school program is provided by the Maryland State Department of Education. The Executive Director received a certificate of Excellence from MSDE 21st Century After School Programs for lights on support to Maryland’s after school programs.
