About
It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, Inc. offers an after school program that includes homework help, tutoring, academic enrichment, character development, meals, recreational activities, and field trips. The program also provides academic support, college and career prep, and opportunities for touring colleges. It operates as a 21st Century Community Learning Center.

• Schedule: Monday–Friday from 2:30pm to 6:00pm
In 2009, It Takes A Village Organization, Inc. and Help Our Children Foundation, Inc. merged to form It Takes A Village To Help Our Children, Inc. The organization provides afterschool, summer, and college and career access programs to more than 200 at-risk youth ages 4–17 each year. The combined organization serves more than 200 youth ages 5–17 and operates afterschool and summer programs until the Dr. H. Dwyane Whittington Multicultural Center is completed. Its mission is to engage the “village” to help build a better future for children by providing activities that promote their spiritual, social, and educational well-being so they can reach their fullest potential.
It Takes a Village to Help Our Children, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit and operates as a 21st Century Community Learning Center. It has been featured on the Governor’s Office for Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) website under Promising Practices. The Executive Director of It Takes A Village to Help Our Children, Inc. received a Certificate of Excellence from MSDE 21st Century After School Programs for Lights On support to Maryland’s after school programs. The program serves children on both ends of Somerset County, Maryland.
