Youth Programs (Before and After School Care, The ZONE, Camp EPIC) includes a Before and After School Care program, The ZONE, and the summer program Camp EPIC. The broader set of activities connected with these programs also includes a summer camp, blood drives, food giveaways, food pantry services, and fitness classes.
• Schedule: Weekday daytime programs are offered with hours that include Monday–Thursday 10:00 AM–3:00 PM and Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 AM–2:00 PM, depending on the site.
Mountain Christian Church made an intentional investment in the Edgewood community in 2004 and later rallied several local partners and church members to launch a community center in Edgewood in 2013, which became The EPICENTER at Edgewood. Since 2013, The EPICENTER at Edgewood has been a hub of programs and resources, and a second location in Aberdeen began opening in the middle of the 2020 pandemic, with an official grand opening on June 19, 2021. Tabitha’s House, a nonprofit thrift store that had been in Fallston for 25 years, merged with The EPICENTER. The EPICENTER’s mission is to empower people, strengthen families, and build a sense of community and trust.
The EPICENTER partners with Mountain Christian Church and hosts blood drives and food giveaways. It offers food pantry services, fitness classes, case management, employment connections, free internet and laptop access, and recovery programs aimed at freedom from addictive cycles. It partners with health professionals for health programs and serves as a host for the Abingdon, Aberdeen, and Edgewood Campus of Mountain Christian Church for Sunday morning worship services and other group meetings and events.
