Art Classes & Camps is offered by the Howard County Arts Council as part of its programs that include art classes, camps, and workshops. The Howard County Arts Council was created in 1981, and HoCo Arts moves to its new home at the Capitoline Center in Historic Ellicott City in 2025. The organization’s mission is to enrich and uplift communities by advancing the arts, artists, and arts organizations for the benefit of all. It is devoted to nurturing local artists and arts organizations, furthering the public’s appreciation of the arts, and ensuring that the arts are accessible regardless of age, ability, or economic status. It awards grants and scholarships, provides advancement opportunities for artists and arts organizations, and creates an environment for open expression and exchange. It encourages people of all ages to discover their own artistic talents and acts as the primary voice and advocate for the Howard County arts community. It provides a home for the arts at the Capitoline Center in Ellicott City, offers grants, scholarships, and honoraria to support the work of artists and arts organizations, and provides affordable studio, rehearsal, classroom, meeting, and performance spaces. The organization offers art classes, camps, and workshops, hosts events that are open to the public at accessible venues, and is committed to making its programs and services accessible to all stakeholders, with reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities available upon request.
