ABC Care is a nonprofit corporation that offers before and after school year and summer camp programs for school-age children from kindergarten through eighth grade. It operates before and after school childcare programs located in 14 public and private schools in Carroll and northwestern Baltimore counties and has locations throughout Carroll County and in northwest Baltimore County. Children receive nutritious morning and afternoon snacks that include at least two healthy food groups. The program includes team-building activities that focus on collaboration, problem solving, communication, cooperation, and creative thinking, as well as creative arts activities that focus on fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, and self-expression.

The mission of ABC Care, Inc. is to provide an exceptional child care program for children from kindergarten through eighth grade through unique, age-appropriate experiences that promote individual growth and development.

Credentialed and educated teachers provide students with assistance and a designated area to promote increased concentration. ABC Care school-based centers and summer camp programs hire supervisors and staff members who have experience and skills for working with children, including enthusiasm, compassion, patience, and respect. All staff undergo state and federal criminal background checks and complete up to 24 hours of Core of Knowledge and child supervisory training, as well as First Aid/CPR and health and wellness training.

Parents describe staff as super friendly in the mornings and note that they observe staff genuinely interacting with children through games and crafts. One parent reports that staff are accepting and tolerant of whatever activity the children choose. Another parent states that the center and staff are dependable and greet the family every morning with a smile and a “good morning.” A third parent shares that the program taught their child leadership skills by encouraging her to assist younger children, and that having the care provided at the school was convenient and affordable.
