About
Snapology of Frederick, MD – Kids STEM Classes, Camps & Programs offers hands-on activities such as robotics, animation, computer learning, movie-making, drones, and architecture classes. Children build robotic models that move, make sounds, and respond to sensors, design custom light sabers, and take part in engineering challenges involving mechanical movement, simple machines, physics, and engineering design. The program also includes stop-motion animation using LEGO bricks and software, robot challenges using LEGO bricks with simple remotes and sensors, and amusement park engineering projects where kids build coasters and rides with motors.
• Ages: 4–14 years old
According to its mission statement, Snapology provides year-round STEAM learning programs where instructors use fun, hands-on activities to teach science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, and children explore robotics, coding, and design challenges using LEGO bricks, K’Nex, and technology. Programs are based on research showing children learn best when actively designing, creating, and exploring, and they support children of all abilities, including gifted learners, traditional students, and those with special needs such as sensory sensitivities or autism spectrum considerations. The program offers after-school programs, summer camps, workshops, field trips, birthday parties, assemblies, and custom events, and it offers birthday parties with STEAM activities.
Snapology provides activities in schools, community facilities, homes, community centers, and other public spaces, and it offers field trips and custom events for schools, teams, and scouting groups. It provides activities for scouting groups including Girl Scout and Scouts BSA programs, offers a Snapology STEM/STEAM patch for scout groups that complete programs (patches available at an additional cost), and tailors programs to help Girl Scouts work toward specific STEM badges. The Discovery Center indoor play center includes building toys and interactive play areas, offers regular creative play hours where kids can be dropped off or parents can stay and play at no charge, allows kids ages 5 and up to explore on their own, and requires a parent to stay with younger children, and there is no charge for adults to play in the Discovery Center. Snapology brings all instructional and educational toys needed to host STEAM programs, camps, and parties.
One parent, Samantha Molto, said, “My daughter loves Snapology and is always excited go! Educational and fun.” Another parent, Marie Robichaud, shared, “I had my daughter’s birthday here over the weekend. I cannot say enough good about this place! Organized, so fun for the kids, the employee entertained the kids the whole time and helped set up and take down.” A troop leader, Norma Rodriguez, said, “Our Gir Scout troop participated in an architecture class which was enjoyed by the whole troop. It is great for teamwork and learning. We would love to return for another class soon.”
