Bar-T states a mission of providing after-school childcare, summer day camps, outdoor education, corporate team building, and events, and offering a variety of fun, educational school year programs and summer day camps that fuel children’s emerging interests and talents. The organization notes “50 Years of Positive Impact” and describes a safe and nurturing community with a positive impact on generations of Maryland families.
School-Age Teacher applicants must be at least 19 years old and show proof of ADA Training, a high school diploma, college credit or a Nine Hour Communication Course, a 45 Hour Growth & Development Course, a 45 Hour School Age Methods and Materials Course, and 400 hours of childcare experience. Director and Assistant Director applicants must be at least 19 years old and show proof of a 45 Hour Growth & Development Course, a 45 Hour School Age Methods and Materials Course, Center Director Regulation Training, and 800 hours of childcare experience. Aides must be at least 16 years old. Returning Bar-T Summer Camp staff applicants are returning Bar-T employees ages 15 and up. JLIT applicants must be 14 years old by June 5th, LIT applicants must be 15 years old by June 5th, Junior Counselor applicants must be 16 years old by June 5th, and Senior Counselor applicants must be 18 years old by June 5th.
Bar-T describes a Director Career Track with a transparent salary band and growth opportunities, with full-time hours (40 hours per week) that combine center hours with children and office hours for planning and program support. Director and Assistant Director positions are benefit-eligible, including healthcare, vision, dental, and an employee assistance program. Bar-T uses substitutes when full-time employees are unable to be at their assigned shifts, on both a daily and full-week basis, sometimes scheduled last minute due to staffing emergencies, and substitutes spend 1–2 weeks in training at a specific Bar-T training center before substituting. Bar-T bus transportation is available for JLITs to both Mountainside and Ranch.
Parent and former participant comments include praise for Kids Camp’s inclusive environment and staff, long-term positive memories at Bar-T, and positive experiences with the camp and before- and after-school programs. Parents describe staff from owners to junior counselors positively, refer to Bar-T as the best camp in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area with management and counselors who go out of their way to make it enjoyable and fun with different activities, and thank the Mountainside staff for making kids’ summers fun and safe. One parent notes appreciating childcare in the same school their children attended and that their daughters were engaged with activities after school, and another states that Bar-T has made their son excited about the learning process and that daily stimulating and enriching activities have taken his development to the next level.
