JLIT programs run at Bar-T camp locations including Mountainside, Ranch, and Kids Camps in the Germantown, Silver Spring, and Gaithersburg areas, and Bar-T bus transportation is available for JLITs to both Mountainside and Ranch. Bar-T substitutes spend 1–2 weeks in training at a specific Bar-T training center, and all summer camp teams are required to participate in trainings on Friday, May 30th (7:00pm–9:00pm), Saturday, May 31st (8:00am–5:00pm), and Saturday, June 7th (8:00am–5:00pm). Substitute positions are assigned on an as-needed basis and may be scheduled last minute.
Parent and former camper comments describe the staff, management, and counselors as “simply amazing,” “top notch,” and going out of their way to make camp enjoyable and fun, and they highlight an inclusive environment and a focus on making kids’ summers “over the top fun” and “SAFE.” Families note appreciation for having childcare in the same school their children attend, daily stimulating and enriching activities, and continuity between camp, before- and after-school programs, and staff.
