About

Beaver Creek Child Care & Kindergarten offers developmentally appropriate and supervised play that includes creative play, exploratory play, dramatic play, group games, and outside play. Children take part in sensory motor activities, fine and large motor activities, music, language games, story time, art, hands-on science and sensory projects, cooking projects, manipulative games, circle time, weekly learning topics and themes, and field trips to various locations. The program also includes the Open Court Literacy Program, Treasures and Open Court Reading Programs, Scott Foresman Math, Second Step Character Development, a Thematic Approach to incorporate Science and Social Studies, fine arts, media, physical education, sports, indoor group games, reading, supervised homework time, in-house performances, arts and crafts, sporting games, science projects, and activities with popcorn and a movie.

Beaver Creek Child Care & Kindergarten has been servicing the Gambrills/Crofton community since 1993. Infants and toddlers follow daily routines based on their individual needs, and 2-year-olds may attend full-day sessions five days a week. Children who are 3 and 4 years old may attend a Morning Preschool Program from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and Kindergarten Transition runs from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm with before and after care included at no extra cost. School Age Summer Camp is offered weekly for in-going Kindergarten through fifth grade children, and with before and after care enrollment there is no extra cost to attend all day when public schools are closed.

Beaver Creek Child Care & Kindergarten offers Parent’s Night Out on various Fridays or Saturdays, when children stay for activities, popcorn, and a movie. Classrooms go out one to two times per week on field trips. Care for 2-year-olds includes breakfast and an afternoon snack, public Kindergarten children in the private kindergarten program receive an afternoon snack, and school-age children receive an afternoon snack and 30 minutes of homework time with a teacher’s assistance. For School Age Summer Camp, the program provides breakfast and an afternoon snack, and children bring a lunch.

Staff members at Beaver Creek Childcare are selected based on educational background, maturity, and experience in working with children, and all teachers have degrees and/or certificates. Staff members attend periodic workshops, and all directors have experience as teachers and educational coursework on children. The Kindergarten Transition program is a full-day certified Kindergarten Program. The stated goal and mission emphasize a safe and loving environment, learning through developmentally appropriate and supervised play, serving as a resource for learning about the physical world, social skills, emotional expression, and cooperation, valuing the uniqueness of each child, putting the child’s welfare first, and regarding child care as an extension of home in a safe, clean, comfortable environment with nurturing and educational tools for growth.
