About
Beaver Creek Child Care & Kindergarten offers developmentally appropriate and supervised play, creative and exploratory play, sensory motor activities, fine and large motor activities, music, language games, story time, art, hands-on science and sensory projects, science and cooking projects, outside play, and field trips to various locations. Children also take part in manipulative games, circle time, weekly learning topics and themes, dramatic play, stories, teacher-directed activities, language arts, group games, reading, indoor group games, sports, physical education, media, fine arts, arts and crafts, sporting games, in-house performances, and activities with popcorn and a movie. The program uses the Open Court Literacy Program, Scott Forseman/Scott Foresman Math, the 2nd/Second Step Character Development Program, the Treasures and Open Court Reading Programs, and a thematic approach to incorporate science and social studies, and it includes supervised homework time with 30 minutes of homework help from a teacher for before and after care children.

Beaver Creek Child Care & Kindergarten has been servicing the Gambrills/Crofton community since 1993 and serves as a resource for learning about the physical world, social skills, emotional expression, and cooperation. The program states that it values the uniqueness of each child, always puts the child’s welfare first, and regards child care as an extension of home in a safe, clean, comfortable environment where children receive nurturing and educational tools for growth. Kindergarten Transition is a full day certified Kindergarten Program, and children must be five years of age by December 31 to qualify for this program. School-age summer camp is provided weekly for in-going Kindergarten through fifth grade children, and with before and after care enrollment there is no extra cost to attend all day when public schools are closed. Parent’s Night Out is held on various Fridays or Saturdays, when children have activities, popcorn, and a movie.
Infants and toddlers have daily routines based on their individual needs. Care for 2-year-olds includes breakfast and an afternoon snack, and 3- and 4-year-olds in certain programs receive an afternoon snack. Public Kindergarten children who join the private kindergarten for before and after care, as well as school-age children in before and after school sessions, are offered an afternoon snack. School-age summer camp provides breakfast and an afternoon snack, and children bring a lunch.
Staff members are selected based on educational background, maturity, and experience in working with children, and all teachers have degrees and/or certificates. Staff attend periodic workshops to improve the quality of their work and education, and all directors have experience as teachers and educational coursework on children. Tours are available during office hours from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm with no appointment necessary.
