Right Start Academy

Right Start Academy is a curriculum-based preschool that includes physical education classes, yoga, other specialty classes, and themed activities. The program holds special themed days such as Silly Sock Day, Slipper Day, Jersey Day, and Prince & Princess Day. Each Friday is a themed day during the academic year, and teachers and students wear RSA embroidered uniform shirts with any bottom Monday through Thursday as part of a semi-uniform preschool approach.

Right Start Academy states that it is a curriculum-based preschool dedicated to giving children the “Right Start” to a successful academic future. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum that provides advanced preparation for kindergarten and integrates fun, physical fitness that offers knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become healthy, active children. The program’s motto is “Developing POTENTIAL into REALITY...one child at a time!” All meals, including AM and PM snacks, are included in the tuition rate as part of an all-inclusive tuition that combines educational services with extracurricular activities. The center is nut-free.

Right Start Academy offers full-time and part-time programs, including 11 hours of service for busy parents from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Parents can use worry-free tuition payments via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) using a bank account or credit card. Parents' Night Out is offered one night per month, when staff stay late on a pre-planned Friday night to entertain children with themed activities for a nominal fee per child. The indoor activity center can be rented on weekends for birthday parties, with a discounted rate for RSA families.

The program describes its environment as a family environment providing a safe, nurturing, and comfortable atmosphere that stimulates learning in an exciting, yet challenging manner. Right Start Academy participates in the Maryland EXCELS program, and Maryland EXCELS program participants meet rigorous quality standards over and above those required by State licensing regulations and public school requirements. The program states that hiring experienced professionals allows teachers to be knowledgeable, skilled, and prepared to handle children from all learning and discipline levels, and all teachers are required to complete professional development courses each year so they can implement the most current teaching techniques. Tours are given year round, not just when there are openings.
