About
Ancestral Knowledge Youth & Teen Programs and Camps offers 100% outdoor camps that include forest exploration, games, and hands-on projects. Participants take part in activities such as animal tracking techniques, nature awareness, plant and tree identification, basic survival skills, primitive skills demonstrations, fire by friction demonstration, and basic stone tool making. Some programs also include hands-on demonstrations with handcrafted primitive tools such as bows and arrows, natural baskets, utensils, cordage, and stone tools, along with student interactive presentations using primitive tools and natural materials.

• Price: Demonstration Pricing: 1–3 hours $375 (30 students max); Field Day Pricing: 2–5 hours $375–$725 (up to 30 participants)
Using nature and the wilderness as its classroom, the program offers hands-on experiential learning through the study of tracking, awareness, and philosophies that support a sustainable lifestyle. Programs include the Homeschool Naturalist Program, Woods Wise Day Camps, The Wilderness Experience - Earthskills Overnight Camp, Teen Immersion Experience Week, the Mid-Atlantic Primitive Skills Gathering, Pathfinder – Nature Connection & Earthskills Workshops for Adults, and Wolfpack - Nature Connection & Earthskills for Families. Some offerings include field trips into the forests of local park systems to explore ecosystems, and students learn how to move in the forest properly to increase animal sightings. The programs intertwine experiential education described as “learning by doing” and Coyote Teaching described as “guiding not giving.”
The staff includes very knowledgeable and experienced field instructors who share the life skills of ancestors. Ancestral Knowledge is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and offers its outdoor education programs to the Boy/Girl Scouts of America, public, private, and charter schools, homeschool groups, and universities. One parent shared that their child returned to Ancestral Knowledge because she enjoyed it so much, and that they appreciated the knowledge, kindness, and care provided by instructors Z and Eden. For overnight camps, required forms include a release waiver, Field Form, camper health history, and Medical Information Form.
