River Valley Ranch started in 1952 as a cowboy summer camp for youth. Its stated mission is that River Valley Ranch cultivates a wholesome environment where guests and staff may grow towards their full, God given potential. River Valley Ranch is a non-profit ministry and a part of Peter & John Ministries, Inc., a registered 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization. It is described as a non-denominational Christian camp that offers exceptional Christian Maryland summer camps, challenging outdoor experiences, quality retreat facilities, corporate events, and memorable family experiences in a distinctly Christian and wholesome atmosphere for the whole family. River Valley Ranch serves over 10,000 youth and adults annually and includes an Outdoor Education Program designed to teach through personal discovery, as well as a Horse Center that cares for approximately 50 horses year round. River Valley Ranch is part of Peter & John Ministries, Inc., and serves regional public and private schools through its Outdoor Education Program.
