River Valley Ranch Summer Camps began in 1952 as a cowboy summer camp for youth. The program is part of a non-profit ministry within Peter & John Ministries, Inc., a registered 501(c)3 non-profit religious organization. River Valley Ranch employs certified medical personnel, certified lifeguards, certified ropes and climbing instructors, certified horsemen, and well-trained counselors. The organization states that it cultivates a wholesome environment where guests and staff may grow towards their full, God given potential. It serves over 10,000 youth and adults annually through summer youth camps, retreat programs, outdoor education, and horseback riding programs, and it welcomes groups such as schools, non-profits, and businesses. The camp operates as a non-denominational Christian camp and describes its atmosphere as distinctly Christian and wholesome for the whole family. River Valley Ranch offers challenging outdoor experiences, quality retreat facilities, corporate events, memorable family experiences, and programmed retreats such as Winter Meltdown held from January through March. Its Outdoor Education Program engages students and adults with the outdoors using a curriculum that teaches through personal discovery with the goal of increasing awareness and retention, including leadership skills, overcoming obstacles, and valuing creation. The Horse Center cares for approximately 50 horses year round and provides scenic trail rides winding through the property. River Valley Ranch provides carefully prepared food and clean accommodations approved by the State and County Health and Fire Departments. The camp has a Camper/Staff Communication Policy that forbids exchange of contact information and communication of any kind between campers and staff unless a parent or legal guardian gives consent via a form.
