Montgomery Child Care Association, Inc. (MCCA), which runs Summer Adventures, is a nonprofit child care provider that started its work in 1968 as a Community Action Project of the War on Poverty and has provided child care for more than 50 years. MCCA is the oldest nonprofit licensed child care provider in Montgomery County and has been recognized by the Maryland State Legislature for its commitment to Montgomery County child care for more than 50 years and special needs child care via a Proclamation in 2016. MCCA was selected as a 2018 nonprofit finalist for a MOXIE Award for boldness and innovation, and its preschool programs use The Creative Curriculum®, which is approved by the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

MCCA’s mission includes delivering child care and play-based education for children in Montgomery County, professional training for child care providers, advocacy for affordable quality child care for families of all income levels, and better training, pay, and benefits for child care professionals. MCCA provides child care and early education for families of all income levels and ethnic groups and was started by local activists who formed an association to establish centers that would serve a diverse population and set high standards for child care. MCCA’s dedicated and expertly trained staff provide child care and play-based education, and MCCA teachers and aides meet or exceed all professional requirements established by the Maryland State Department of Education, Office of Child Care, and participate in the MSDE Child Care Credentialing program. The Richard Krampf Summer Adventures Scholarship Fund was established to help provide children a safe and stimulating place to spend their weeks when school is out.
