Scouting America, which includes the Del-Mar-Va Council Scouting Programs and Camps, was incorporated on February 8, 1910, chartered by Congress in 1916, and the Del-Mar-Va Council was established in 1917. The mission of Scouting America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Del-Mar-Va Council provides Scouting opportunities throughout the Delmarva Peninsula, serving over 200 units and 2,000 volunteers who are delivering the promise of Scouting to over 3,600 young men and women, and Scouting works through neighborhoods, volunteer organizations, and faith-based organizations to help young people appreciate and respond to the needs of others. Scouting America is described as one of the nation’s largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. Rodney Scout Reservation Summer Camp within this program is described as “The only Scout camp on the Chesapeake Bay.”
