Salsa With Silvia 4 Kids offers dance classes for children that include Creative Movement, Latin Dance, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Ballet, Modern, Mommy and Me, Stories in Motion, and Baby Ballet. The program also offers kids bilingual camps that combine dance and learning with reading, writing, science, math, arts and crafts, and outdoor time if weather allows. Additional options include birthday parties with face painting, art activities, dance activities, and recitals.

The Salsa With Silvia dance program for children was founded in January 2016, following the founding of The Salsa With Silvia studio in 2008. The first studio was in the basement of founder Silvia Alexiev’s house, and a second studio location opened in downtown Bethesda in January 2020. Teachers in the kids’ program have years of experience working with young children.
Silvia Alexiev, owner of The Salsa With Silvia Dance Studio, became a competitive ballroom dancer at age 12, joined her first salsa performance team in 2004 and became their lead female dancer, and began her teaching career in 2008. She worked as a lead producer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and obtained an MA in Film & Video at American University in Washington, DC. The program’s mission states that it sees dance as an important part of children’s development and education, with a focus on early foundations for body movement, rhythm, coordination, and a balance between structure and fun in classes.
The program offers group and private in-person dance classes for children, as well as virtual group and private lessons. Baby classes such as Stories in Motion and Baby Ballet are included. Kids’ camps are bilingual learning programs with a focus on dance, and campers receive continuation of their school curriculum plus reading, writing, science, and more, along with lots of dancing and physical activities and outdoor time if weather allows.
Salsa With Silvia 4 Kids offers customizable birthday parties with various options and add-ons, led by professional hosts who are trained to keep children engaged in each celebration. Each studio has private rooms available and the option to book the entire studio for events. Free Wi‑Fi and a fresh and healthy variety of beverages and snacks for kids and adults are available at both studio locations.
The studio’s kids’ camps have been ranked Top 3 in Washington DC’s Best Summer Camps. Silvia initiated a scholarship program that supports children from low income families who want to dance, and the studio fully funds training and costumes for the scholarship performance team.
