About

Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County is a charitable nonprofit organization and the oldest continuously running childcare center in the state of Michigan. The program cares for and educates children and also offers a summer camp for children entering kindergarten and 1st grade. Tuition can be provided on a sliding scale through outside funding, and the program offers services that other preschools and daycare providers cannot.

Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County has provided equitable access to high-quality childcare and education since 1934. It was founded as Perry Nursery School and changed its name in 2014 to Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County. The organization is overseen by a volunteer group of local professionals who provide strategic and financial oversight. The staff at Foundations Preschool is described as dedicated and highly qualified. The mission of Foundations Preschool of Washtenaw County is to provide equitable access to high-quality care and education, prepare children for future academic and social success, and strengthen families through opportunities for professional, personal, and parental growth. Community and funding partners include organizations such as Ann Arbor Host Lions Club, Food Gatherers, MacArthur Foundation, Michigan Medicine Emergency Medicine Residency, Eastern Michigan University Football Team, the University of Michigan Ginsburg Center, United Way for Southeast Michigan, Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, The Kiwanis Club of Ann Arbor Foundation, and others.
