Kids Martial Arts at Japanese Martial Arts Center offers kids martial arts, kids judo, and kids karate. Classes take place at the Japanese Martial Arts Center (JMAC) dojo and focus on these specific martial arts activities.
• Ages: 4–12 years old
Most of the instructors are parents. The program follows JMAC’s mission of offering authentic Japanese martial arts in a safe, systematic setting, with the dojo providing inspiration and guidance while students bring commitment and hard work. The program is led by Nicklaus Suino, who was All-Tokyo Champion for four consecutive years between 1989 and 1992 in Iaido and has written four books on Japanese martial arts. Kids martial arts at JMAC is taught in a carefully developed, thoughtful way, with learning disguised as fun and class rhythm varied to keep kids interested, and the program is developed so kids love the experience, connect joyful practice with accomplishment, and feel engaged and making progress. JMAC serves students from across Southeast Michigan, including Ann Arbor, Dexter, Chelsea, Pinckney, the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Washtenaw Community College, Saline, Canton, Howell, Brighton, Manchester, Whitmore Lake, Milan, Plymouth, Dundee, and Monroe.
