DNR Outdoor Adventure Center Youth Programs and Camp Explore

DNR Outdoor Adventure Center Youth Programs and Camp Explore offer nature education programs, archery, and fishing classes, along with Camp Explore and other summer camp experiences. Camp Explore includes programs that explore the Detroit Riverfront and state parks, and the Outdoor Adventure Center also offers a free introductory archery class for first-timers and virtual programs for groups. The center features hands-on activities, exhibits, and simulators such as a 35-foot-tall tree exhibit from top to bottom, a waterfall that visitors can walk behind and touch, a boat where visitors can reel in a big fish, and trails for mountain bike or snowmobile simulators.

• Ages: 9–17 years old
• Schedule: Open Wednesday–Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m., with admission sales ending at 3:30 p.m. daily; closed Mondays and open Tuesdays for groups by appointment only

The mission of DNR Outdoor Adventure Center Youth Programs and Camp Explore is to offer exciting outdoor adventures with hands-on exhibits and simulators and to teach how the DNR manages state parks, forests, and wildlife. Community connections include the Friends of the Outdoor Adventure Center group and OAC partners. An application and permit are required to take professional photographs in the Outdoor Adventure Center.
