Summer Soccer Camp offers soccer activities along with nightly devotions. Volunteers coach, serve on the hospitality team, lead the nightly devotions, and pray for the ministry. Players are introduced to Jesus in this fun and active setting.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: July, Tuesdays–Thursdays in the evenings for two weeks
• Price: Minimal cost per child. Scholarships are available on request. Please pay what you can and make a note of the need on the registration form.
Children and youth are grouped by age, with ages 3–5 years meeting at 5:30 p.m., ages 6–8 years meeting at 6 p.m., ages 9–16 years meeting at 7 p.m., and ages 17 and older meeting at 8 p.m. All skill levels are welcome, and no special equipment is required, though children who have them are encouraged to bring shin guards and soccer cleats. Soccer will be canceled in the event of a severe storm with thunder and lightning, a tornado warning, or severe heat with a heat index over 105° Fahrenheit, and weather cancellation alerts are sent via text and email no later than 4 p.m. on program days. Parents can join a weather alerts list through an appropriate form.
The program is connected with a leadership team that includes Rev. Dan Thompson, Senior Pastor, and several other named leaders and elders. Its mission is to join God’s work by reaching, discipling, and equipping people to courageously and authentically live out God’s Word in Brooklyn Park and beyond. Children meet new friends from the neighborhood at Soccer Camp, and soccer cancellations are also posted on the Redeemer Covenant Church website at redeemercov.org. The camp has been featured in the August 2011 issue of Covenant Companion magazine, on the Northwest Conference website, and on page 1 of the May 2011 issue of the Minnesota Christian Chronicle newspaper.
