About
Minnesota PGA Junior Golf 'Sota Series is a golf program where kids and teens take part in organized golf events. The program includes tournaments that players can choose based on their age and skill level. Each year it offers over 180 individual golf events, and participants can play in as few or as many events as they want.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Events on weekdays from early June through mid-August
• Price: For a yearly contribution fee of $30, families can support the growth of junior golf.
The ‘Sota Series is made up of four different tours that are organized by age and skill level. A membership is required before a child can register for tournaments, and then families can select events that fit their schedules. Events are offered at times and locations intended to fit family schedules and limit disruption to summer routines. During periods of high heat, families are asked to send participants to junior events with water.
The mission of the Minnesota PGA Junior Golf ‘Sota Series is to provide playing opportunities for advanced, intermediate, and beginning golfers ages 8–19, and these playing opportunities will promote competition and camaraderie. The Minnesota PGA Junior Golf ‘Sota Series is sponsored by the Minnesota Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America, Inc., a non-profit corporation chartered in the state of Minnesota. The leadership team includes Karla Hagen, Director of Junior Golf; Catherine Pederson, Director, Player Engagement and Member Services; and Megan Welch, Junior Golf Manager. The Minnesota PGA and Minnesota Golf Association work together to award local programs and PGA Professionals with funding to provide instruction, education, access to golf equipment, and playing opportunities throughout the state.
