Minnesota Flyers Gymnastics & Fitness Recreational Gymnastics Program was established in 1997 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The mission states that it provides children and individuals with special needs the opportunity to achieve fitness at any level regardless of their abilities, with a goal to create an atmosphere where fitness is fun and confidence grows, and to provide a safe atmosphere where fitness is fun and confidence grows. The program includes options to build on gymnastics skills for girls competitively through USA Gymnastics and casually for both boys and girls ages 18 months through 15 years for recreational classes. Class mobility for Jr. Hot Shots, Hot Shots, Beginner 1, Beginner 2, and Intermediate-Advanced requires passing a skill evaluation, and skill evaluation results are available in an online parent account. The adaptive class focuses on fundamental gymnastics skills such as safety, fitness, coordination, agility, and balance in a fun and positive environment, with an extra focus on making athletes with special needs feel comfortable and safe in the gym, and participants can learn at their own pace and ability level. Ninja classes focus on letting kids run, jump, throw, and climb, with kicking, rolling, and flipping for older groups, and FlyTime is specially designed for individuals who may need assistance to move, climb, roll, communicate, or interact in a traditional setting.
