Gleason's Gymnastic School was founded in 1966 and has been serving Minnesota families since that time. It is described as the longest-running gymnastics program in Minnesota and has been providing gymnastics training to girls and boys in a safe and positive learning atmosphere since 1966. Gleason’s Competitive Team Programs have produced many national and international level competitors, and the school is described as a cornerstone of the gymnastics community, known for developing confident athletes in a supportive, high-energy environment.
At Gleason’s Gymnastic School, the stated mission is to build more than athletes by building confident, capable individuals through gymnastics. The mission includes developing confidence and a strong self-image through positive, successful experiences for every student, building body awareness, strength, and foundational skills that support all sports and physical activities, and encouraging a lifelong appreciation for movement, health, and fitness through active participation. The mission also includes engaging both mind and body by teaching problem-solving, focus, and resilience, and creating a fun, supportive environment where athletes can grow, connect, and enjoy the process.
Gleason’s coaches are registered USA Gymnastics coaches, SafeSport trained and approved, certified in First Aid, CPR, and AED, and participate in ongoing staff training, development, and national-level clinics. Every coach completes a structured training process that includes observing experienced instructors, assisting in classes, teaching under supervision, and then progressing to leading their own classes. Gleason’s focuses on confidence-first coaching, creating success and building self-esteem through progress, not pressure, and is founded on the belief that gymnastics training has unique benefits for all children, not only highly talented competitors. Gleason’s states that it strengthens children in mind and body through successful gymnastics experiences.
The leadership team includes Founder/Owner Larry Gleason, Preschool Director Sasha Svirsch, Business Manager Joni Selden, Recreation Director Dave Kennedy, and Gym Manager Kristi Hansen. One parent, Lucas Graves, states, “It’s been a great place for our daughter working through the program.”
