About
Discovery Day Camp is a week-long program where campers take part in activities such as swimming, hiking, climbing, archery, STEM activities, outdoor skills, and crafts. Depending on the camp location, activities can also include GAGA ball, BB gun shooting, knots and lashings, pedal carts, nature trail hikes, a bounce pillow or bounce house, fire building techniques, maps and compass, bouldering, rock climbing, pickleball, boating, ponies, and time at the pool. Activities vary by location, and all activities are age appropriate and guided by trained staff.
• Ages: Kindergarten–6th grade
• Schedule: Week-long (5-day) sessions offered from mid June through the end of August, with camp days running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
• Price: 2026 fees are $305 per youth per session; optional bussing at select locations is $60 per week, and extended care at all locations is $50 per camper per week
Discovery Day Camp is open to all youth (boys and girls) entering Kindergarten through 6th grade in the fall. Discovery Day Camp is a drop-off program run by qualified and trained staff, and parents are not part of the day camp programs. Staff ratios meet the program’s supervision requirements. Participants are asked to keep cell phones and other electronic devices in their backpacks during the day.
Each camp undergoes an annual safety and quality analysis as part of a national camp accreditation program, and Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America operates Discovery Day Camp as an IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. The mission of the program is stated as a commitment from camp staff and volunteers to discovering the principles of Scouting by delivering fun experiences that build character, citizenship, fitness, and family.
Families are asked to send campers each day with a backpack containing a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, bug spray, hat or sunglasses, a snack, any needed medications (shared with staff at check-in), a rain jacket, and a bag lunch. Campers are expected to wear closed-toe shoes and clothing suited to spending most of the day outdoors. Each participant must bring a printed Camp and Activities Participant Waiver/Health Form to check-in on Monday morning, and digital submissions are not accepted.
