About

Camp Esquagama offers camp-wide games, arts and crafts, a climbing wall, archery, swimming, and time at the waterfront. Campers also gather for campfire activities, including evenings by the waterfront amphitheater, and can visit the Camp Esquagama Canteen once a day to choose up to two treats, with treats being revamped in 2025 to include less sugary and healthier options.

• Ages: 4–17 years old
• Schedule: Sessions run mid-June through early August, with daily mealtimes at 8:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 5:30 p.m., and a closing ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on the last day of each session

Youth have been attending Camp Esquagama for over 85 years, and the camp is heading into its 90th season. Campers are organized into cabin groups by age and eat family style as a cabin group, with a fully loaded salad bar that includes a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. The menu is planned in advance with substitutions available for common dietary needs, including Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, Seafood Allergy, Tree Nut Allergy, and no Red Meat, and dietary needs are noted on camper medical forms. Camper’s have the option to take a brief swim test at the beginning of the week; swimming is a camp activity, and campers who do not pass the swim test can still use the sandy waterfront and closed dock area that is only 4 feet deep. The waterfront is always staffed with a Waterfront Director and several other alert lifeguards during all waterfront activity. Camp Esquagama offers the Explorer’s Program, a specialized day camp program for youth with autism and cognitive delay. Parents and friends are invited to attend the closing ceremony on the last day of camp.

Camp Esquagama’s well trained and talented staff assist with waterfront activities, arts and crafts, archery, the climbing wall, and other camp activities, and the camp is led by Robert, Camp Director. Camp Esquagama is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The camp states that it believes kids need time to be kids and that childhood should include adventure, discovery, and the freedom to explore in a safe and supportive environment, and that its programming is thoughtfully designed so youth can build self-confidence, develop meaningful relationships, and gain lifelong skills that extend beyond their time at camp. One testimonial describes the camp as “The best. Changed my life.” signed by T.H.
