Carpenter Nature Center Summer Camp
Minnesota Campus, 12805 St. Croix Trail S., Hastings, MN 55033
About
Carpenter Nature Center Summer Camp offers activities such as plant and animal encounters, fishing, canoeing, hiking, water games, shelter building, fire building, orienteering, archery, art and nature exploration, and meeting some of Carpenter Nature Center’s Animal Ambassadors. Campers may go fishing in the St. Croix River from a dock, build shelters, practice fire starting, feed and clean animal ambassadors, and create animal enrichments for turtles, snakes, a rabbit, amphibians, and raptors. Some sessions include a canoe trip on the Namekagon and St. Croix Rivers with portaging and camping, and some art-focused sessions include making art projects to bring home.

• Schedule: Single-day, half-day, three-day, and week-long day camps, plus three-day/two-night and four-day/three-night canoe trips, with some sessions including an overnight sleepover

Carpenter Nature Center Summer Camp states that campers will learn to foster an appreciation for the natural world while making friends. The program notes that thanks to a donor, the BWCA canoe trip is offered at a stated price range and with scholarship assistance. For canoe trips, canoes, paddles, food, cooking equipment, tents, transportation, and PFDs are supplied, and packs or drybags are also supplied for the BWCA trip. Fishing sessions allow participants to bring their own rod and reel or use one provided, and most of the time in that session is spent at the river with a water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, and appropriate clothing recommended. Arts in Nature campers receive a take-home bag of art supplies. Sarah Germscheid is listed as the contact for registration, camp information, waitlists, and scholarship opportunities.
