About
Hopkins Community Education Youth Programs offers activities that include art, sports, science and technology (STEM), cooking, pottery, crafts, digital skills, clubs, theme days, service learning, maker space projects, leadership opportunities, special events, arts and crafts, games, outdoor play, academic enrichment, sport fundamentals, play adventures, STEM skills, and other hands-on projects. Camp Royal includes breakfast and lunch provided by Hopkins School Nutrition without separate registration, and youth are asked to leave electronic devices at home, with cell phones kept in backpacks during programming. Kids & Company and BLinK include enriching activities where students can explore new interests and participate in a variety of structured options.

• Schedule: Camp Royal runs Monday–Thursday from June 15 to August 20, 2026, with drop-off starting at 8:30 a.m., supervised lunch from 12–1 p.m., and pick-up by 4:30 p.m.; Kids & Company Summer Program runs Tuesday, June 16 to Friday, August 14, Monday–Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
• Price: Classes and camps are paid at a maximum of 50% not to exceed $50 per catalog/season per student, with a maximum of $150 per year per student; a $5 cancellation fee is charged if a class registration is canceled and refunded five business days before the first class, and camp fees are described as priced at an affordable price point for families.
Hop-Kids classes introduce sport fundamentals, play adventures, and STEM skills and are scheduled on evenings and weekends. Little Learners & Loved Ones offers multi-generational classes for children ages 2–6 and a favorite grown-up age 18 or older, with pricing that includes one adult and one child unless otherwise noted. Camp Royal Monday–Thursday camps are organized in half-day blocks, with options to register for full or half days, and transportation is not available for this program. Kids & Company Summer Program includes clubs, theme days, service learning, maker space activities, STEM, leadership opportunities, and special events, and is described as Hopkins Public Schools’ premier before- and after-school care program for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. BLinK offers before- and after-school programming for middle school students in grades six through eight at North Middle School, and students attending West Middle School may take the activity bus to North Middle School to participate.
Royal Learning Academy classes are taught by licensed teachers and are funded by the State of Minnesota’s Targeted Services program, and scholars are required to attend six full weeks and must qualify and have been invited. Freedom Schools provides a summer of research-based and multi-cultural curriculum for scholars entering grades 4–9 and their families and includes weekly Parent Empowerment sessions. Hopkins Community Education states that it is dedicated to meeting lifelong learning needs for all Hopkins School District residents and students enrolled in Hopkins Public Schools.
Scholarship aid for these programs has been contributed by Hopkins families, supportive community members, and Hopkins businesses. Families who participate in the CDF Freedom Schools summer program commit to weekly Parent Empowerment sessions to connect as a community and support each other while meeting the needs of scholars.
