Mankato Family YMCA Summer Camps include Preschool & Kindergarten Prep Camp, School-Age & Specialty Camps, and Overnight Camp options. Preschool & Kindergarten Prep Camp includes theme related games, art, music, stories, swimming, playtime, and outdoor play. School-Age & Specialty Camps include Chesley Skate Park Camp, Sports Camp, and Pathfinders Day Camp, while Overnight Camp includes archery, canoeing, Outdoor Education, arts & crafts, and large group games.

Overnight camps at Camp Patterson include Traditional, Leaders in Training (LIT), Counselors in Training (CIT), and Junior Counselor (JC) programs. Camps use the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Responsibility, Respect, and Faith. Camp counselors are trained in CPR, First Aid, child abuse prevention, bloodborne pathogens, emergency procedures, water safety, and the camp curriculum including songs and games that incorporate values and education, and all counselors must pass a background check prior to employment. The Mankato Family YMCA has a $10,000 grant from the Y of the USA to offer scholarships for first-time and diverse overnight campers for the 2025 camp season. The Mankato Family YMCA states that the camp experience is transformational for all ages and that its programming is built by its mission of serving the greater Mankato area as a cause-driven organization for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The YMCA’s mission is strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, and it reports listening and responding to its communities for over 135 years. Director of Youth Development, Dustin, leads the program.
For summer 2025, all campers must bring a packed cold lunch each day, and the YMCA will provide an afternoon snack. Campers are instructed to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, bug spray, backpack, tennis shoes, swimsuit, towel, and a cold lunch, with all items encouraged to be labeled with the camper’s name. For field trips, campers are instructed to wear their provided field trip shirt and bring a lunch, water bottle, bug spray, sunscreen, swimsuit and towel for water trips, and an individual activity to do on the bus such as books or fidget toys. Items not allowed at camp include electronic devices such as phones, smart watches, and tablets, toys or trading cards, drugs, tobacco, vapes, weapons, alcohol, money, and inappropriate clothing.
