Stage combat training is led by certified fight instructors, and the stage management camp includes learning real-world tricks and techniques from working professionals.
• Ages: 11–18 years old
• Price: $457 (including handling fee) for certain weeklong camps; $307 (including handling fee) for certain shorter camps; $907 (including handling fee) for certain two-week camps.
Camps are designed for middle and high school students entering grades 6–12. Experiences are designed to inspire positive self-development and community leadership by connecting participants to the artistry and creative process of the Guthrie. Participants work with professional theater artists under the leadership of Artistic Director Joseph Haj.
The Guthrie Theater opened on May 7, 1963, and in June 2006 moved from its original home on Vineland Place to the banks of the Mississippi River. The Guthrie Theater engages exceptional theater artists in the exploration of both classic and contemporary plays, connecting the community it serves to one another and to the world. The Guthrie is committed to offering educational programming to all students and provides 100% and 50% scholarships for families with financial need. The Guthrie Theater is committed to the people of Minnesota and, from its place rooted deeply in the Twin Cities, influences the field as a leading 21st-century arts organization. The Guthrie acknowledges that it gathers on the traditional land of the Dakota People and honors with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations, including the Ojibwe and other Indigenous nations.
A parent testimonial states, “It’s truly been such a joy to be at these camps. We are so, so grateful for you and your team.” – Dana G., Minneapolis.
