Minnesota Center for Book Arts Workshops and Youth Programs offers hands-on artmaking workshops that include papermaking, letterpress printing, bookbinding, and suminagashi marbling. The program also includes a hands-on letterpress printing workshop and other artmaking workshops for adults, youth, and families.

• Schedule: The Shop at MCBA is open Tuesday–Saturday 10am–5pm, Thursday 10am–7pm, and Sunday 11am–3pm.
Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA) began planning in 1983 and opened in October 1985, later becoming a founding partner of Open Book in the spring of 2000 along with the Loft Literary Center and Milkweed Editions. Its mission is to ignite artistic practice, inspire learning, and foster diverse creative communities through the book arts. MCBA serves over 40,000 visitors every year through work in its studios and in libraries and community centers across the region and brings together a wide range of artists, learners, and art lovers through programs that highlight different voices and artistic styles. MCBA is described as the largest, most comprehensive center of its kind in the world and the first (and only) center in North America with public access to foreign language type, and it offers more than 200 workshops and 10 gallery exhibitions every year while also providing fellowships, residencies, and mentorships supporting working artists.
The program is supported by MCBA staff members including Associate Director Esther Blevins, Partnership Coordinator & Resident Instructor Laura Brown, Director of Education Anna Bredeson, Administrative & Tech Coordinator Carmel Dor, Executive Director Courtney Gerber, Visitor Services & Shop Associates Nina Hagen and Charlie Kelley-Pegg, Online Shop and Artist Sales Coordinator Tanesha Kozler, Development and Events Coordinator Charliey Libra, Workshop Manager Kirsten Olson, Studio Coordinator & Resident Printer Molly Poganski, Director of Retail & Visitor Services Annie Schiferl, and Director of Exhibitions & Artist Programs Anika Schneider. Governance is provided by a Board of Directors that includes professionals such as commercial property manager Heidi Bing, archives and digital collections associate Sophia Daley, artist Jan D. Elftmann, executive consultant KC Foley, contractor and community volunteer Sherri Gebert Fuller (Secretary), director of financial planning and analysis Jennifer Henningsen (Chair), director emeritus Lyndel King, marketing strategist Mary Pat Ladner, attorney Peter M. Lancaster, retired marketing communications executive and North Loop Neighborhood President Diane Merrifield, systems analyst Abraham Rybeck, intellectual property counsel Hema Viswanathan, community volunteer Deb Weiss (Treasurer), former CFO and EVP of Operations Cory Zanin (Immediate Past Chair), and former wealth and investment management executive Amala Thakkar.
