About
Theatre Arts Training offers theatre experiences and theatre education that include acting training, voice training, and movement training. The program is part of the Theatre Arts Training program at Children’s Theatre Company and focuses on an immersive exploration of acting, voice, and movement training for youth. Theatre Arts Training is described as an industry leader in providing professional theatre experiences and education to build curious, creative, and confident young artists.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Ticket Office Hours in-season are Tuesday–Friday, 1pm–6pm and one hour prior to every performance; summer hours are Monday–Friday, 10am–4pm.
Children’s Theatre Company began as The Moppet Players, moved into the Minneapolis Institute of Arts in 1965, and was incorporated as Children’s Theatre Company in 1975. Children’s Theatre Company has been dedicated to advancing the art of theatre for families and young audiences for over 50 years and creates theatre experiences that educate, challenge, and inspire more than 200,000 people annually. Managing Director Ryan French is part of the leadership team.
Children’s Theatre Company is the nation’s largest and most acclaimed theatre for young people and serves a multigenerational audience. It is the only theatre focused on young audiences to win the Special Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre and is the only theatre in Minnesota to receive three Tony nominations for its production of A Year With Frog and Toad. It is recognized as North America’s flagship theatre for young people and families, a major cultural and artistic resource in Minnesota, and the most significant provider of theatre education opportunities in the region.
CTC’s ACT One is a comprehensive platform for access, diversity, and inclusion in its audiences, programs, staff, and board that strives to ensure the theatre is a home for all people and all families, reflective of the community. Children’s Theatre Company benefits from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, which supports arts, arts education, and arts access programs for Minnesotans of all ages. Children’s Theatre Company acknowledges that it is now a steward of land that the Wahpekute People of the Dakota Nation still call home.
