Minnesota Golf School at Grand View Lodge Resort and Spa offers individual golf instruction with a one- or two-student to one-teacher ratio from PGA and LPGA professional instructors. Instruction covers swing video analysis, putting, pitching, chipping, bunker shots, mental game, course management, and daily on-course playing lessons, along with player evaluation and video and digital analysis. Each package includes lunch with the PGA/LPGA professional each day, as well as unlimited practice and play at The Pines and The Preserve courses for Bird Golf students.
• Schedule: 3 day school with 18 hours of individual instruction; 4 day school with 24 hours of individual instruction; 5 day school with 30 hours of individual instruction
• Price: Peak Season (5/1 to 10/30): Eagle 1:1 – 3 day school $5,100; 4 day school $6,500; 5 day school $7,900. Buddy 2:1 – 3 day school $3,750; 4 day school $4,800; 5 day school $5,700.
The program is led by PGA/LPGA professional instructors, including leadership from Jay Ewing, founder of the Bird Golf Academy, whose vision was the result of more than 35 years as a golf professional, and Mary Mills, a Bird Golf instructor who won the 1963 U.S. Open and the 1964 and 1973 LPGA Championships among her 9 LPGA Tour victories. The Bird Golf Academy’s promise and Service Mark is the “Ultimate Golf Learning Experience.” Grand View Lodge has been the only Minnesota resort named a Top 10 Northern U.S. Golf Resort by Condé Nast Traveler, and The Pines course has received national recognition, including honors from Golf Magazine and Golf Digest. One-bedroom suites in the lodging offer 2 queen sized beds, and the resort includes multiple courses, practice facilities, Glacial Waters Spa, and several on-site dining options including the Grand Dining Room, which focuses on regional cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. The Preserve course features elevated tees and wide views, and the dedicated practice area includes a private range, multiple putting greens, and a full short game facility.
Golf balls, tees, and clubs are not included in the program, though rental clubs are available through golf course partners. Airfare, transportation to and from the golf school, personal items purchased during the school, additional golf rounds before or after school days, and golf rounds for other members of a student’s party are not included. Instructor gratuities are not expected, but $75–$100 per day is customary for those who choose to leave a gratuity. Students are advised to bring removable layers, sun protection, and rain gear and to be prepared for a range of weather conditions.
