Bird Golf Academy at Grand View Lodge Resort and Spa offers a golf school that includes individual golf instruction, swing video analysis, and playing lessons on the course. Students receive putting, pitching, chipping, and bunker shot instruction for both greenside and fairway bunkers, along with short game practice using three separate putting greens and a complete short game area. The program also includes mental game and course management instruction.

• Schedule: 3 day school with 18 hours of individual instruction; 4 day school with 24 hours of individual instruction; 5 day school with 30 hours of individual instruction
• Price: Peak Golf Season (5/1 to 10/30): Eagle 1:1 – 3 day school $5,100; 4 day school $6,500; 5 day school $7,900. Buddy 2:1 – 3 day school $3,750; 4 day school $4,800; 5 day school $5,700. Instructor gratuities: $75-$100 per day is customary.

Bird Golf Academy at Grand View Lodge Resort and Spa uses a one- or two-student to one-teacher ratio and focuses on personalized, customized instruction designed for each student’s specific needs. Packages include 18, 24, or 30 hours of instruction with a Bird Golf Academy Professional, and afternoons are devoted to on-course playing lessons each day of the school. Bird Golf students have unlimited practice and play at The Pines and The Preserve golf courses and practice in a private range area, with golf balls, tees, and clubs not included in the package, though rental clubs are available through golf course partners. All taxes are included in the package, and additional golf rounds before or after school days, golf rounds for other members of the party not in the golf school, airfare, transportation, and personal items purchased during the golf school are not included.

Instruction is provided by PGA/LPGA professional instructors, and lunch with the PGA/LPGA professional is included each day. The Bird Golf Academy’s promise and Service Mark is the “Ultimate Golf Learning Experience.” The leadership team includes founder Jay Ewing, Mary Mills, and Jim Samsing, with Jay Ewing’s vision based on more than 35 years as a golf professional. Jay Ewing served on the Colorado Section PGA Board of Directors, founded the Colorado PGA Teach-a-thon, and founded the Rocky Mountain Junior Tour. Grand View Lodge has been the only Minnesota resort named a Top 10 Northern U.S. Golf Resort by Condé Nast Traveler, The Pines has received Golf Magazine’s Silver Medal, and in 2002 The Pines was rated by Golf Digest as Minnesota’s only 5 star course.
