About

Northfield Arts Guild Youth Theater Programs include activities such as acting, performing, building, running, ushering, working with scenery and props, and assisting backstage during performances. Students also have chances to write, produce, and perform an original play as part of Young People’s Theater Workshop, and to take part in Purple Door Youth Theater, which is an immersive educational theater experience. In Purple Door Youth Theater, elementary, middle, and high school students are involved with every aspect of producing a show, and actors audition to join the cast while technicians interview to become part of the tech crew.

• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Young People’s Theater Workshop offers two multi-week summer camps.

Students develop acting, technical, and performance skills under the guidance of professional theater artists. Each summer, themes are chosen for youth to use as inspiration for their plays, and each age group works closely with a director and choreographer. Purple Door Youth Theater’s 66th Season show is Winnie-the-Pooh. The Northfield Arts Guild presents four theater productions annually, including comedy, drama, musicals, and experimental work, and offers classes or workshops for youth, adults, and all ages. Since its founding in 1959, the Northfield Arts Guild has grown to become a community gathering space for all the arts, and it is a 501(c)3 nonprofit arts center that strives to provide people of all ages and abilities with abundant opportunities for creative expression, where everyone is welcome and included.
