• Ages: 6–17 years old
• Schedule: Five 2-week sleepaway sessions from June 14 to August 23
The day at Camp Pillsbury is comprised of six one-hour periods, with three Majors and three Minors. Majors take place at the same time each day with the same staff and campers and are chosen as activities to learn more about, improve in, and be part of an end-of-session show or exhibition. Campers choose three Minors each day that they can try once or repeat as often as they like. Campers sleep in dorms and are provided food, activities, and social time throughout the summer, and the camp is offered as both an overnight sleepaway program and a day camp for coed campers.
Camp Pillsbury states that it meets each child's individual needs and respects their individuality, and that no matter what their interests are, they are certain to find activities that fascinate them and help build their character, self-esteem, and confidence. The mission further states that it is a place for children to develop their passions, learn new skills, make new friends, create happy memories, and try new things that they cannot do in everyday life. Camp Pillsbury has been named the “Coolest Summer Camp in Minnesota.”
The Camp Director is expected to have a strong desire and ability to recruit and perform standard Camp Director operations, serve as the primary staff person on site, and possess a strong work ethic along with recruiting skills and knowledge. Counselors are responsible for assisting in the direction and supervision of campers and students, and for leading and assisting with teaching activities after school, on weekends, and during school breaks, with prior camp and/or teaching experience needed.
