About
Hoopology University Summer Camps offers ELITE Shooting Camp, Competitive Ball Handling Camp, Attack The Rack Camp, Lakeville North Scoring Camp, Northfield Scoring Camp, as well as private training and small group training. The ELITE Shooting Camp uses shooting drills that include shooting off the dribble, shooting off the pass, step back shots, and pick and pop, and any type of shot that a player might attempt in a game has been incorporated into the drills. The Competitive Ball Handling Camp includes stationary drills, drills on the move, and drills with defenders, and focuses on the athlete becoming a quicker and more efficient ball handler with an emphasis on strengthening the athlete’s weaker hand.
• Ages: 8–15 years old
• Schedule: Summer camp options on specific June and July dates, with most listed camp sessions running about one hour
• Price: $125–$175 per camp, with a $100 discount for signing up for all three summer camps in Shakopee or Prior Lake
In Attack The Rack Camp, athletes work on utilizing footwork, ball handling, and body position to get by a defender, developing a more explosive first step and making decisions to finish with a layup, pull up jumper or floater, or pass, with finishing through contact and moves such as the Euro-step, spin move, and power-hop included. Lakeville North Scoring Camp and Northfield Scoring Camp each spend 45 minutes on shooting (including spot up, on the move, and off the dribble shooting) with a focus on shot mechanics and game speed shooting, 45 minutes on using footwork, ball handling, and body position to get by a defender while teaching moves such as the Euro-step, spin move, and power-hop, and a final 45 minutes on ball handling with an emphasis on strengthening the athlete’s weaker hand.
Hoopology University was founded in 2000 by Bryan Blascziek and started with 20 athletes, offering private and small group training in its first summer. Many of the players trained as 6th and 7th graders went on to win the state basketball title for Shakopee High School in 2005, and Hoopology University has trained over 5,000 basketball players since its inception. Hoopology University continues to offer high quality instruction and focuses on the details to help athletes achieve their goals. To sign up for camps, families select the Summer Camp tab and register, and to sign up for small group or individual sessions, they select the Private Training tab and choose Book Now, with a new option this year to check dates and times, click the Registration button, and pay without logging in.
