The Art Academy of St. Paul

The Art Academy of St. Paul offers Basic Elements of Drawing and Design, Drawing and Painting Fundamentals for Children, Drawing and Painting Fundamentals for Homeschoolers, and Manga and Superheroes. The drawing and painting class begins with black-and-white exercises in pencil and pen and ink, then moves to watercolor and oil paints. The Manga and Superheroes class focuses on character design and visual storytelling.

Programs

• Basic Elements of Drawing and Design — For ages 7 to 8. · An introductory class that gives young children a strong foundation in art that will support more advanced concepts as they grow.
• Classes for Children Ages 9-13 — Ages 9-13 · Wed 6:00pm-8:00pm; Thu 6:00pm-8:00pm; Sat 10:00am-12:00pm; Sat 1:00pm-3:00pm; Sat 3:30pm-5:30pm
• Drawing and Painting Fundamentals for Children — Begins with black and white drawing exercises in pencil and pen and ink. After students learn these basic skills, children advance to color using watercolor, and finally oil paints.
• Drawing and Painting Fundamentals for Homeschoolers — Core curriculum for children and teens, offered during the day and specially tailored to homeschool families.
• Manga and Superheroes — A popular class that focuses on character design and visual storytelling. Students may take it as part of the core curriculum, or as an independent class.

• Summer Camps & Workshops — Held in August for teens and adults. They provide a great opportunity to focus on specific skill developments and projects.

The school says that with time, encouragement, and proper instruction, anyone can learn to draw and paint exceptionally well.
