About

North East United Soccer Club Youth Soccer Programs offer youth soccer through recreational soccer, competitive soccer, and travel soccer. Players take part in leagues, tournaments, an indoor league, and fundraising for additional tournaments. Each team has one guaranteed tournament hosted by North East United Soccer Club, with the possibility of a second tournament paid for by the club if the club budget allows.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Competitive soccer year runs from the end of July to the end of July the following year, with fall, winter indoor, and spring/summer seasons

North East United Soccer Club was established in 1971. In 1974 the Maplewood Parks and Recreation Department contacted Fred Abbott to assist with developing a youth soccer program, and in 1977 the Northeast Soccer Association was formed. After 38 years, the NESA Board decided to rebrand as North East United Soccer Club in 2015, with a focus on licensed coaches, better practices, and better games. Fred Abbott served as NESA's first president, and the Northeast Soccer Association was formed by Fred Abbott, Allan Eastwood, and Gil Leiter.

North East United Soccer Club is a non-profit organization whose goal is to foster a safe, fun and educational experience for all youth in the program. It is described as a non-profit, community-based club that serves several communities in its area and relies on donations from individuals and organizations to keep youth soccer accessible, regardless of a family's financial reality. The club focuses on excellence in sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork on and off the pitch and encourages social, civic, educational skills that transcend the soccer field.

The fall season runs from mid-August through early October, with 2–3 practices a week and approximately 6 games. Winter indoor training starts in early November and runs through early April, with training sessions twice per week. For year-round ages 9U–15U, the spring and summer season runs from mid-April through mid-July with 2–3 practices per week and approximately 10 league games. For 16U–19U Winter to Summer, winter indoor training starts mid-November and runs through early April, and the spring and summer season runs from mid-April through early July.

North East United Soccer Club offers a recreational program for kids of all skill levels and competitive travel soccer with participation in leagues and tournaments in the Twin Cities Metro and potentially out of state as players get older. Tryouts are free, and Twin Cities Soccer League (TCSL) Final Four and Jamborees, if the team qualifies, are paid for by the club. Uniform kits are custom made for the club, include home, away, and practice jerseys, shorts, and socks, and are used for two full seasons. A new uniform kit went into effect in August 2023, and the next kit order will need to be placed in August 2025.

Players are required to submit a copy of their birth certificate or passport when registering. Players must order a uniform kit at an additional cost, and kits must be ordered right away if playing in the fall. If doing the Winter/Spring+Summer option, there are multiple opportunities to order uniforms and email notifications are sent. When registering for North East United soccer, families are also committing to volunteer hours for the North East United tournament per player registered.

North East United Soccer Club is a volunteer-run club with a few part-time staff who help run day-to-day aspects of the club, and the Board of Directors serves as the backbone of the club.
