About

Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Youth Sports Camps include a one-day soccer camp, the Little Cardinals Soccer Camp, and several hockey options such as a Hockey Development Camp, Power Skating Clinic, Mites Camp, SMU High School Hockey Camps, Goalie Clinics, Girls U10/U12 & U14/U16 Overnight Hockey Camps, Overnight Boys/Girls Hockey Camps, and the Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Hockey Prospect Camp. The soccer camps take place on a brand-new soccer turf, and the hockey camps include both day and overnight formats, including 4-day, 3-night overnight camps. The Hockey Prospect Experience is open for 2008–2011 birth years and is intended for high school and junior hockey aged players aspiring to play NCAA or ACHA college hockey at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.

• Schedule: Options include a four-day camp, a 4-day/3-night Overnight Camp, a 4-day, 3-night Overnight Camp, and a one-week-only offering.
• Price: Boys High School Camp $325 for the whole summer; 4-day, 3-night Overnight Camp to U10/U12 & U14/U16 for the low cost of $535; many week-long overnight camps now costing thousands of dollars, the program states it is proud to provide an alternative.

The Hockey Development Camp’s focus is to build habits to compete in all areas of the ice and is specifically designed to improve players’ overall hockey ability and competitiveness, with each session including on-ice, off-ice, and mental IQ skill development. The camp is modeled after USA Hockey’s Development model with its own twist, and participation is limited to maintain a very good coach-to-player ratio, including a limit of 60 skaters and 4 goalies for each group. Specialty clinics feature Goalie Clinics and Power Skating, and the program notes that the camp is all about having fun while learning the game of soccer and offers an opportunity for players to enhance their skills and learn more about a D3 student-athlete life.

Leadership for Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota Youth Sports Camps includes Cardinals Head Coach Leo Barbosa, Assistant Coach Alberto Centeno, and Senior Director of Arts & Events Lynette Johnson. After a successful competitive figure skating career, staff member Corrie decided to shift her focus to hockey. The program lists the Accreditation Office of Arts & Event Services among its credentials.
