About the provider
The Kansas City Shotokan Karate Club was founded in 1966. Its leadership team includes Mike Lyon, Carl Johnson, Jon Beltram, and David Altman. The club’s mission is to preserve, perpetuate, and advance the legacy of Shotokan Karate for the betterment of the lives of those who train, and to contribute positively to human history. It is an official SKA dojo since 1966, one of the oldest martial arts groups in North America, and a winner of SKA’s National Dojo of the Year award in 2016.
Anyone 16 years of age or older is welcome to join in karate practices. You may observe or participate. After one or two free visits, you must become a member of SKA and pay local dues in order to practice. SKA members can join practices via Zoom. Members are entitled to training at any SKA or affiliated dojo worldwide, ranking, participating in special practices, tournaments, and other events organized by SKA. A subscription to an online newsletter is included in the membership.
