About
Mecklenburg Swim Association Swim Lessons offers swim lessons and a swim school, along with a competitive swim team and a USA year-round swim team. The program also includes an Adult Masters Program with organized workouts for adult (18+) swimmers.
• Ages: 0–17 years old
MSA was in inception in 2012. At the Mecklenburg Swim Association, the stated mission is to show that anyone can enjoy years of fun, fulfilling, and competitive experiences in the water. MSA coaches and instructors bring years of education, training, and a commitment to excellence. The program includes multiple locations serving the greater Charlotte areas and beyond, with programs that cater to all ages, interests, and abilities. Its USA year-round swim team offers technical training and engaging practices through positive reinforcement, and its Masters adult (18+) program is available for novice swimmers, fitness fanatics, triathletes, or competitive swimmers. The program describes its approach as a Fun Loving philosophy, where hard work can and should be fun, and a Family Oriented learning environment that is comfortable, positive, and encouraging.
One parent, Brent Morris, reports that his entire family has been with MSA since its inception in 2012, with both parents in the Masters program and their girls in various children's, teens, and senior groups, and describes coaching at every level as excellent. Another parent, Lynn A, shares that her son is enjoying the Sardis Road team and being coached by Coach Ned, noting that he gives many tips for strokes and turns and communicates well with parents. Parent Seth Terndrup states that his four- and six-year-old boys have taken swim lessons at MSA for several years, that they love their instructors, and that as a former swimmer and swim coach he thinks MSA does a great job. Meredith Moore notes that her daughter has been swimming at MSA since 2013 and that she has also been swimming in the Masters program, describing Coach Patty as an incredible motivator, teacher, and ambassador for the team and the sport. Another parent, Anne Diaz, reports that her two daughters are on the swim team and her son takes swim lessons, and that Coach Ned is effective in teaching stroke techniques, calming nerves, giving encouragement, and providing feedback that kids understand. Masters swimmer Carol Hood shares that she has been in the Masters Program for four years and credits Patty with helping her improve her swimming, bringing the team together, and encouraging her to swim in her first swim meet.
