About
Camp Cornelius offers games, crafts, field trips, and visits from special guests as part of its summer programming. Campers can take part in sports such as baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cycling, disc golf, flag football, lacrosse, martial arts, multi-sport, pickleball, rugby, soccer, softball, tennis, and volleyball. Additional activities include engineering, food science, rocketry, solving crimes, and learning about water and boater safety.
• Ages: 4–14 years old
• Schedule: All camps run Monday through Friday, with full-day Summer Day Camps offered for seven weeks and Summer Sports Camps offered in three-hour sessions; several mini-camps for the youngest campers run in a 90-minute format
• Price: For non-residents using the payment plan, initial fees upon registration include 50% of the resident camp cost plus 100% of the non-resident fees
Camp Cornelius is celebrating its 25th year of exceptional summer camps, and 2025 will be the 25th year of offering three-hour Summer Sports Camps. Seven weeks of full-day Summer Day Camps are available, and families may register for all or select weeks. Each full-day Summer Day Camp week includes at least one offsite field trip and a special onsite guest or other surprise, and campers are divided into pre-designated, age-specific groups for activity rotations throughout the day, excluding field trip days. Summer Recreation Experience camps include STEM-focused activities and interactions with public safety staff, including solving crimes and learning about water and boater safety, and two sessions of enrichment camp are new in this series. Therapeutic Summer Camps are offered for children with disabilities or other challenges through a partnership with Mecklenburg County Therapeutic and Inclusive Recreation Services. A payment plan is offered for Summer Day Camps, with 50% of the fees due upon registration and final payments for all camps due by May 17, and a Resident Discount is available only to residents of Cornelius. Meals are not provided, so each camper must bring a nut-free lunch, nut-free snacks, a large refillable water bottle, and tennis or other closed-toe shoes, and Cornelius parents of full-day campers using the Resident Discount must provide proof of residency by May 15 using accepted documents such as a valid driver’s license, utility bill, or apartment lease. Registration for Camp Cornelius opens to Cornelius residents only on Monday, March 3, at 7 a.m., and opens to everyone on Monday, March 10, at 7 a.m.
