The seeds for Piedmont Forest School were planted in 2018 with the launching of a summer camp experience in the summers of 2019 and 2020. The mission of Piedmont Forest School is to provide to children of all abilities and backgrounds authentic forest school and nature-based education programs which foster the development of the whole child, while engendering in them a love of and a commitment to caring for the natural world.
Programs are offered year-round, rain or shine, for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, kindergartners, K–8 homeschoolers, K–8 after schoolers, and summer campers. Children of all abilities and backgrounds learn together through creative, child-led play in nature, with a focus on self-directed play in nature. The program provides nature-based education and support for neurodivergent learners and maintains a low student to teacher ratio of 5:1.

Learning Partners mentor, model, and coach students through positive relationships, interactions, and communications, and the team includes support from Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, and Childhood Educational Experts. The Little Creek Neighborhood Center will be utilized for the Agile Learning Center.
