Boss Basketball offers Summer Skills Camps that include fast-paced drills, team challenges, friendly competitions, solo contests, and group contests. Campers take part in both individual and group instruction during these two-day sessions.

• Schedule: Two-day sessions on Thursday, August 6th and Friday, August 7th, with separate elementary and middle school time blocks

Boss Basketball launched in the fall of 2020 and describes itself as the Home of Central Oregon Basketball. The program offers hands-on experiences through camps, clinics, individual and group instruction, and competitive teams. Every camper leaves with a BOSS Basketball camp T-shirt. Families are asked to have each camper bring their own water bottle and indoor basketball shoes.
The leadership and coaching team includes Kevin Boss (Owner & Coach), Logan Garvin (Coach & President), and coaches Caleb Tatum, Joe Wells, Michael Nunes, Erin Mathias, and Nate Christensen. Kevin Boss is a Super Bowl XLII champion with the New York Giants, founded Boss Sports Performance in 2014, competed on the AAU circuit as a youth, won a State Championship at Philomath High School in 2002, was named 1st Team All League as a senior, and was a member of the basketball team at Western Oregon University while also starring for the football program. Logan Garvin was a four-year starting point guard at Philomath High School, helped the program capture its first ever state championship his senior season, earned 3A Oregon State Player of the Year honors, was named 1st Team Valco League four times, 2002 Valco Player of the Year, and three-time 1st Team All State Tournament, then earned 2004 Southern Region Player of the Year at Chemeketa Community College, helped the program to a 24–7 overall record, #1 ranking, and a league championship, received a full-ride scholarship at Regis University, led the team in assists and averaged double figures in scoring his senior season, earned All Conference Honorable Mention, completed a Master’s in Sport Administration from Northern Colorado in 2009, and spent over 10 years in athletic administration.
Coach Caleb Tatum graduated from Mountain View High School where he played basketball and football, played quarterback for Shasta Community College, transferred to Eastern Oregon University where he walked on to the basketball team, then joined the team’s staff as the strength and conditioning coach while completing his degree in Exercise Science. Joe Wells played baseball and basketball at North Salem High School, played AAU basketball with the Portland Legends for three years, played basketball at Linfield in McMinnville, Oregon where he was team captain for two of his four years, graduated from Linfield with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, and in 2018 graduated from Willamette University with a Master’s in Executive Leadership and Analytics. Michael Nunes is a former national champion and collegiate player under Hall of Fame coach Danny Miles. Erin Mathias was named Pennsylvania Gatorade Player of the Year and Miss PA Basketball in 2014, played at Duke University where she helped her team reach two Sweet 16 appearances in four years, graduated from Duke in 2018, played three years in Italy’s Serie A1 Lega Basket Femminile for club USE Basket Empoli, and played one season for club BBC Grengewald in Luxembourg. Coach Nate Christensen played at Wilsonville High School and played for the OSU Women’s Practice Team at Oregon State University while studying business.
Boss Basketball states its mission as equipping young people with the skills and experience necessary to become the best they can be both on and off the basketball court. Boss Basketball also states that it strives to bring together and grow the Central Oregon basketball community through hands-on experiences ranging from camps, clinics, individual and group instruction, and competitive teams. The program notes that players who have competed for or trained with Boss Basketball are now playing in college or have signed a National Letter of Intent, including Caden Harris (Chico State), Julian Mora (Seattle Pacific), Garrett Osborne (Oregon Tech), Evan Otten (Idaho State), Tane Prictor (Pittsburg State), Truman Teuber (Willamette University), Ben Keown (Shasta College), Miguel Taylor (Big Bend Community College), Caden Dornhecker (Walla Walla Community College), Pearson Carmichael (Boise State), Quincy Townsend (Oregon Tech), and Seneca Ball (Blue Mountain Community College).
