About
Avalon Lady Fishing & Crabbing Camp includes crabbing, fishing, and time fishing the back bays. Campers learn basic knot tying, how to use spinning rods and boat fishing rods, how to bait and set up three types of crab traps, how to clean their catch, and basic navigation and boat safety skills. Campers spend two evenings fishing the back bays and two evenings crabbing, and all campers receive a free tee shirt, a free afternoon trip on the Avalon Lady or the Miss Avalon to practice their skills, and a certificate of completion.
• Ages: 8–18 years old
• Schedule: Four evenings per week, Monday–Thursday, 4:00–6:00 pm
• Price: The cost for the camp is $295 per week.
The camp is conducted by Captain Brandon Hurd, a fourth-generation skipper, along with his first and second mate. Miss Avalon is a 78-foot fishing yacht powered by twin diesel engines that departs twice daily during busy summer months, offers full-day and half-day trips depending on the time of year, and is available for private charter parties and nature cruises. The Avalon Lady is a shaded pontoon boat that runs daily fishing and crabbing trips in the back bay.
