About
Storming Robots offers robotics projects, programming, computer science, and computer engineering activities. Students work on robotics automation with electronics, professional level software development projects, algorithmic problem solving, and enrichment robotics workshops.
• Ages: 10–18 years old
• Schedule: 2-hr weekly meetings - Term based.
Storming Robots is a premier year-round learning center that provides year-round robotics engineering and computer science with Computational Thinking education for talented youth from Grades 5 to 12. The program focuses on advanced Robotics and Computational Thinking Programming (CS+CT) education for gifted grades 5–12, using process-driven, results-oriented learning that emphasizes depth of understanding and application. Activities include hands-on robotics projects with scaffolding open-ended challenges and text-based programming, robotics automation with electronics, and an online discussion group focusing on algorithmic problem solving. Students are grouped based on their skill sets, not grade level, and the program offers robotics competitions and programming competitions by invitation only, as well as technology class trips to the center for small groups, an Advanced Learning without additional cost Development Group, and FREE Events, Recommendations & Resource pages. Storming Robots has a year-round curriculum with over 15 years of student records and over 15 years of excellent student achievements from top placement in international competitions, selective high school internships, and top college acceptance, along with national and international recognition and a top college profile.
Storming Robots was established in 2005 and is led by Director and Founder Elizabeth Mabrey. The program is led by one of the 150 educators who received the 2019 Distinguished Teachers Award from the U.S. Presidential Scholar Program, which is one of the nation’s highest honors for high school graduates. Its mission statement is: “Prepare the Tomorrow's Engineers and Innovators for the A.I. Realm.”
Testimonials from former students include comments that Storming Robots emphasized independent and self-learning techniques that taught them to think on their feet without following a single methodology, that Storming Robots helped them unearth a passion for robotics, and that they continue to work with local middle school students interested in robotics and hope to inspire them the way Storming Robots inspired them. Another testimonial states that experiences at Storming Robots set the student up for many successes in high school and that they constantly apply the skills they built at Storming Robots.
