About

The Green House Preschool and Kindergarten focuses on early childhood education with a philosophy that takes into account each child’s individuality. The program follows a mission of developing the “whole child” socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually through positive experiences with trained and nurturing caretakers. Its goal is to instill in each child a love for learning as well as for themselves in a safe, loving, and creative environment where children can express themselves and learn through their experiences.

• Ages: 1–6 years old

In 1979, The Green House Preschool and Kindergarten, Inc. started simply as a white building with a green door before becoming a childcare center. The school states that its mission is to support young learners as they develop socially, emotionally, and intellectually, and to support students in early childhood education so they can reach their highest developmental, social, and academic potential. The program emphasizes creating and maintaining an appropriate curriculum and environment that allows students to learn individually, with their peers, and through family involvement. The leadership team includes Miriam Carminio as Director/Owner and Lorie Skific as Assistant Director of the Fort Lee school. The program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), has held this accreditation since 2000 with a stated status of “the highest quality of excellence in preschool education,” and has a four-star GROW NJ Kids rating. The school reports a reputation honored by thousands of families that return year after year.
